On a relatively normal fall afternoon hike around Lake Siskiyou, enjoying the beautiful colors, my wife and parents and I walked around a bend in the trail and observed hundreds of large tree stumps scattered around the dry lake bed. We went to investigate and as we walked out into the normally under-water scene, Mount Shasta lifted up from behind the mountains. With the fall colors in full show, and the sun blazing from behind, just kissing the horizon I set up and captured five vertical photos at 100mm. This is the stitched panoramic result. For Redding landscape photographers it doesn't get much better than this lucky moment in time.
